Weyerbacher Merry Monks Ale at the Independent Bar Tampa

Merry Monks’ is a Belgian style Abby Tripel. To be true to the style, Merry Monks’ Ale is bottle conditioned. This means we add a bit of sugar and yeast just prior to bottling. This imparts a special effervescence to the beer, a creamier carbonation, and also extends the shelf life. The on-going fermentation inside the bottle will change the character of the beer as it ages, and you’ll find it becomes dryer with age. You may want to lay down a few bottles for future evaluation. We suggest storing at cellar temperatures – around 55°F – and away from light.

When you try this beer you’re in for a unique treat. The special effervescence and creaminess are immediately apparent when pouring. The pilsner malts combined with the Belgian yeast strains yield a remarkable and complex flavor- perhaps you’ll note subtle hints of banana. The flavor is nicely balanced and the finish moderate to dry, begging for the next sip. This 9.3% brew is available year-round.

Back on tap: Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale at the Independent Bar Tampa

Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale is claimed to be "The Mother Of All Pumpkin Ales" and at 8.0% ABV it definately has enough of a kick to let you know that it isn't fooling around with it's Imperial title.

This is a sweet and robust ale. At first taste it reminds you of a Trappist Ale, but then it mellows into a great spice and caramel flavor, with flavors of nutmeg and cinnamon. A overall taste that is not too complex, or overwhelming; and the namesake flavor of roasted pumpkin comes through the sweetness.

This is a perfect draft for a cool autumn night, or match it up with a slice of pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream.

It is available for a very limited time on tap at the Independent Bar Tampa

On Tap: Weyerbacher Sierra (Milk Stout) at the Independent Tampa

Weyerbacher Sierra, the new offering from the Brewer's Select Series is now on tap for a limited time at the Independent Bar Tampa. Sierra (the NATO / phonetic alphabet letter “S”) is the next up in our series of Brewers’ Select beers.  Sierra is Weyerbacher’s take on a milk stout.

From the Brewery:

"Starting off with a healthy dose of Maris Otter as a base we integrate some roasted barley, plenty of chocolate and munich malts, a touch of flaked oats and some milk sugar (lactose) to balance out this roasty treat.

The dark chocolate and roastiness stemming from the malts along with the slight residual cream-like sweetness left from the milk sugar make for a complementary flavor that’s sure to please the stout lover and even those not yet familiar with this old English style of ale."

This is a very limited edition beer that is available for only a limited time at the Independent Bar Tampa
